Happy 4th of July Party Ideas: Decorations and Desserts
As you know, I’m always down for a party! Even though I’m not American, my husband is and so we celebrate the red, white, and blue with fun decorations and tasty food. Similarly to our Canada Day festivities, we’ll have a barbecue and a dessert table with a little something for everyone.
Celebrate the 4th of July with Emily's party ideas! For this year’s theme, I picked up a set of cute beach decor from the party store. Everything about it says “take me to the sea” which I thought was perfect for this summertime party. Especially since it was all blue and white. I just needed to add some pops of red to make it USA-approved.
Strawberry, Blueberry and Fresh Mozzarella Kabobs
What better way to celebrate than with some delicious treats? When it comes to red, white, and blue foods you’ve just got to get creative! Strawberry, Blueberry and Fresh Mozzarella Kabobs are one of the easiest snacks to make and they add that pop of colour we’re looking for. Not to mention how scrumptious they are. You can also substitute the mozzarella for pound cake or bananas.
Fruit Kabobs (or ‘fruit skewers’) are always a hit. They are easy to make, pretty to present, and fun to eat!
Raspberry, Coconut, and Blueberry Popsicles
Next up – Raspberry, Coconut, and Blueberry Popsicles! On a hot summer’s day, popsicles are a cooling treat that both satisfies and refreshes. The layers are simply blended blueberries with coconut milk, coconut milk mixed with stevia and vanilla, and raspberries blended with coconut milk. First, you start with the blueberry layer and allow it to freeze for an hour. Then you add the vanilla coconut layer (freeze for an hour) and finally, add the popsicle sticks and the raspberry layer.
It’s a bit time consuming, but when you’re up to other things and just come back to the kitchen to add each layer throughout the day, it’s done in no time and the result is worth it.
Keto Brownies with Cream Cheese Frosting
I also made these keto brownies covered with a tradtitional cream cheese frosting (using Monk Fruit powdered sugar to keep it keto). They are SO good! On their own, they don’t look very festive, so I topped them with red, white, and blue chocolate mermaid tails (which themselves are not keto-friendly but certainly kid-friendly and perfect for the chocolate lover at the party). I used mermaid tale molds and melting chocolate wafers, which I picked up from Bulk Barn, to create the tails.
Decorate with Festive Tableware
When it comes to decorations, your local party store or Amazon is a great place to start. As I mentioned above, I loved these beach-inspired plates and napkins, so I went with those. I also picked up some table confetti, which featured hearts drawn in the sand and palm trees. So cute! The addition of red came from my treats!
You could always add a flag banner above your food/treat table to tie it all together. I’ve come across some great bunting tutorials on Pinterest!
If you’re thinking of throwing a party for the 4th of July, I hope these ideas inspire you! Keep it simple, add lots of red, white, and blue, create a playlist with your favourite American songs and have fun!
