Shell Pasta with Turkey Tomato Sauce
So, I came to write a blog post this afternoon and noticed that my title font had magically changed itself? What’s up with that? I’ve put in a request for help with my blog designers and I’m hoping to get it fixed as soon as possible….because I don’t like it! I checked the html template and it seems it points to the correct font – so where did this one come from? Do you ever have that happen on your blog… mysterious happenings?
Anyhow, today I’m pulling out an oldie but a goodie recipe that is great on rainy, humid days like this one. Kind of like soup, it hits the spot and warms the belly. For this recipe, I use organic ground turkey, canned tomatoes (look for those that read BPA-free) and lots of sage. Three main ingredients that come together in harmony and deliciousness. You can pour this sauce over any type of pasta, but it particularly works well with shells or spirals. Bon apetit!
Gluten-Free Shell Pasta with Turkey Tomato Sauce
Serves 4
1 lb. organic ground turkey
1 can of organic stewed tomatoes, diced (around 14 oz)
1 teaspoon of dried basil
2 Tablespoon of dried sage
2 garlic cloves, minced
2 Tablespoons of coconut oil
salt and pepper
4 servings of prepared gluten-free pasta shells (follow instructions on package or supplied at health food store)
- Heat coconut oil in grilling skillet over medium heat.
- Add turkey, sprinkle with tablespoon of sage and bit of pepper, cook until browned.
- In a large sauce pan, over medium-low heat, put stewed tomatoes, garlic cloves, dried basil, dried sage, and a bit of salt and pepper.
- Cover for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- When the meat is finished browning and the 20 minutes are done, add the ground turkey to the tomato sauce. Mix in, and let it heat for another 5 minutes.
- Serve over prepared gluten-free pasta shells, sprinkle with a bit of sage and garnish with fresh basil leaf. Enjoy!

I am always getting new and wonderful ideas from you. Thank you so much for sharing this! I can taste it already:)
Have a beautiful day!
Such a comforting dish! I love it, Emily! I love to visit your blog. It’s so comfy and happy! xoxo
I often get problems like that, but unfortunately, I’ve got no blog designer to turn to 🙁 This definitely hits the spot for me! I usually get ‘canned’ tomatoes that come in tetrapaks instead of cans so I know for sure they’re bpa free, same goes for coconut milk!
Look delicious Emily!!
Love this idea! I usually go for ground beef, but turkey is a way healthier substitute. Might have to try this one!
I have a question for you, would this be good with ground chicken. We accidentally got ground chicken at the store and I don’t really know what to do with it. Thanks!!

This looks so good right now. I love cooking with ground turkey, since it’s what I grew up with and this recipe would be so easy to make with gluten free pasta.
Delicious….this is a healthy meal that my kids will love, too. Thank you for sharing!
